Where does the time go?

It seems like weeks are just flying by these days -I've got so much going on that I am a space case. I have to set calendar reminders for things like "take out the trash" or "take a water break." But, I'm loving life right now and the busyness keeps the winter duldrums away.

We got lucky this last weekend and had AMAZING weather. A few of us drove up to Mt. Hood and took a hike - I thought for sure we would freeze but I ended up having to strip down to my tee shirt it was so warm. On the way back we stopped at Edgefield for a drink and met some interesting characters. The rest of the weekend was great too, attended a birthday party, saw my friends band play, got some homework done and cleaned a little house.

Not too much else to report - looking forward to going home next week. I have a lot to be Thankful this year and it will be a nice little break from my hectic school schedule! See you soon, Tucson!

Gas and Weatherization

This morning I embarked upon weatherizing the bathroom (I'll get back to this) and was on a ladder when Sabine came in to sniff everything and make sure there were no squirrels hiding in there. As she was shuffling around she let out this little squeaky fart, which is not unusual at all because my dog farts all the time. What was absolutely hysterical is that she immediately whipped around to look at her butt, with this puzzled look on her face, as if to say "where did that come from? Is there a squirrel in there?" I nearly fell off the ladder I was laughing so hard.

Now, back to weatherization. I figure I should explain since the majority of my readers live in Arizona. Up here we have these things called seasons. I think in Arizona you call them Hot Months, Unbearably Hot Months, Monsoon and Perfect Weather. Here in Oregon we have different seasons : Rainy, Rainy & Sweltering, Rainy & Cold and Rainy, Cold & Dark. To prepare for the last two we embark on a week long process of preparing to not freeze to death. Some people have the money to afford storm windows and insulation. For the rest of us, we use caulk to seal all the windows shut, then "shrink wrap" them with sheets of plastic and invest in blankets. It's really fun and a great way to waste money on things in the hopes of not having a $200 heating bill, although it never works.

Brrrr

Holy Crap it is cold today! I guess fall has crept in already, which makes me want to curl up with a book by the fire. I should at least change the filter on the heater because I think I'm going to have to crank that guy up real soon.

I'm officially 30 today and don't really feel any different. My left hip/groin region is stiff from the roller skating party on Saturday - they really should change directions more often. But I'm very impressed that not one of us old people fell or broke a bone. It was a great. And Miss White Trash was a good time as well, a few of the girls actually participated and afterwards we went over to Embers to watch the Drag shows. Lots of fun.

Not sure what is on the docket for today. I was thinking of grabbing a nice cup of coffee and going up to the dog park but it's been pouring down rain and is probably one big mud puddle. I need to return my financial aid paperwork and books - I had some seriously doubts when I saw the loan amounts on paper and got the estimate on books... e-ghads... but I really want to do this Maybe I'll take a nice leisurely drive down to campus and then go shopping with all the lovely gift cards I got this week! Whee Hee!

And then I gotta find me a job!
